President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the recent election has set the stage for a significant transition of power, with departing President Joe Biden scheduled to address the nation on Thursday.

The 81-year-old Biden will deliver his speech from the White House Rose Garden at 11:00 am, focusing on the election results and the upcoming transition to Trump’s second term.

Biden’s political journey took an unexpected turn in July when his own party pushed him out of the race, forcing him to pass the Democratic nomination to Vice President Kamala Harris. Now, he faces the prospect of watching his legacy potentially change under Trump’s administration.

The White House reported that Biden and Trump had a conversation on Wednesday, during which Biden pledged his commitment to a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of national unity.

Trump’s campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, confirmed that Trump is looking forward to meeting with Biden soon and appreciated the call.

This upcoming meeting will mark the first time the two have met since Biden’s debate performance against Trump in June, which led to his withdrawal from the race.

Following Biden’s exit, Harris’s team sidelined him, and his absence from the Election Night party further hinted at a strained relationship between the two.

Despite discussions of a power transfer, there are established protocols for the transition process. The Constitution’s 20th Amendment stipulates that the presidential inauguration must take place on January 20th.

The president-elect officially becomes president only after being sworn in, typically followed by the new president moving into the White House post-ceremony.
