Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke sharply criticized Boston Mayor Michelle Wu on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend,” condemning her steadfast defense of Boston’s sanctuary city status and her recent comments about presidential authority.
Clarke emphasized that Wu is neglecting her fundamental duty to protect her community. He pointed out that while the Trump administration has made significant progress in securing the border, local law enforcement’s cooperation with federal authorities remains crucial.
“It’s part of the Code of Ethics to assist all law enforcement agencies in the pursuit of justice and making their communities safe,” Clarke said. “So I think at some point, [Attorney General] Pam Bondi will have to push the issue here.”

The controversy intensified following Wu’s State of the City address, where she reaffirmed Boston’s non-cooperation policy with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. Her stance has drawn criticism from local leadership, particularly after she proclaimed her unwavering support for immigrants.
“No one tells Boston how to take care of our own, not kings, and not presidents who think they are kings. Boston was born facing down bullies,” she said.
Clarke argued that Wu’s actions potentially violate federal laws regarding the concealment and assistance of undocumented immigrants. He explained that while local authorities aren’t required to actively support ICE operations, they are legally prohibited from impeding them.
“The locals don’t have to support and assist ICE but they can’t impede it either,” said Clarke. “Bondi ought to convene a grand jury, try to get an indictment under that statute I just mentioned,” he said. “That would send a strong signal about how serious this administration is with people who are going to get in the way.”
Does Boston’s Mayor Michelle Wu think these violent criminal illegal aliens are above the law? She and her fellow Sanctuary City mayors want a lawless nation.
