Kamala Harris had a distressing evening as the Southern California wildfires encroached upon her neighborhood. The Palisades wildfire, actively burning in the Los Angeles area, reached the Brentwood neighborhood on Saturday where Harris owns a residence. Fortunately, she and her family were not present at the time.

Other notable figures like NBA star LeBron James, actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also have homes in the area affected by the blaze.

Adding to the concerning events, the LAPD responded to a burglary call early this morning at Harris’s home. Two individuals dressed in black attire arrived at her residence, possibly with the intent to steal valuables.

The suspects were initially detained by the police but subsequently released. The Secret Service also responded to the same call, according to reports.

The two men were illegally present in the evacuation zone while a citywide curfew was in effect due to the wildfire.

“The Palisades Fire, which broke out on Tuesday, is the largest fire across Los Angeles County and has already wiped out more than 22,000 acres in Pacific Palisades and Malibu. It has become the most devastating wildfire in Los Angeles history.”

Collectively, the fires have reportedly destroyed over 37,000 acres and at least 12,000 structures.

At least eleven fatalities have been confirmed, but officials are still uncertain about the actual number. According to Fox 11, at least 13 individuals have been reported missing.

Opportunistic looters have taken advantage of the situation, stealing valuables from homes not destroyed by the fires while law enforcement resources were stretched thin.

“Except for Harris, it appears.”
