Chicago Violence: 17 Shot, Three Dead In Weekend

During the weekend in Chicago under Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) leadership, gun violence resulted in 17 shootings, with three victims losing their lives.

The initial wave of violence saw twelve people shot between Friday and Saturday night, with one victim succumbing to their injuries, according to Breitbart News.

By Sunday evening, ABC 7 reported that the total number of shooting victims had escalated to 17, with two more fatalities added to the toll.

One of these deadly incidents occurred Saturday evening around 7 p.m. along the 100 block of W. 125th Street, where a male victim received a fatal neck wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Early Sunday morning, approximately 1:30 a.m., authorities discovered a 36-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the street in the 3600 block of E 100th Street. Despite being transported to a hospital, he did not survive.

According to statistics from the Chicago Tribune, the city has recorded 499 homicides in the period spanning from January 1, 2024, through November 3, 2024.
