Chicago Violence: Six Shot During Six-Hour Period

During a six-hour period spanning from Saturday night to early Sunday morning, six individuals fell victim to shootings in Chicago under Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration.

According to Chicago 32, the violent incidents began at 9:39 p.m. Saturday and continued until 3:46 a.m. Sunday. The initial shooting involved two 37-year-old men who were inside a vehicle on West Madison Street’s 5800 block when an unidentified assailant opened fire before fleeing. Both men survived their injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.

Near midnight, another shooting occurred on North Laramie Avenue’s 2800 block, where a 25-year-old woman and a male companion were traveling in their vehicle when shots were fired. Though both sustained injuries, they were not life-threatening.

Approximately two hours later, a verbal dispute in a parking garage on North Central Avenue’s 3100 block resulted in the shooting of a 19-year-old, leaving the victim in serious condition.

The final incident of the night occurred at 3:46 a.m. Sunday, when a 41-year-old man was shot following a confrontation. He was taken to the hospital and listed in fair condition.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, as of January 19, 2025, the city has already recorded 23 homicides this year.
