A Chinese national is being held without bond after allegedly violating a court order to stay away from Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate of President-elect Donald Trump. Zijie Li, 39, was arrested Thursday after arriving at the property’s entrance in an Uber.
Li’s arrest follows a series of incidents involving him and Mar-a-Lago since July. Police say he first attempted to enter the estate over the summer, claiming to have information related to an assassination attempt on Trump. He was turned away by Secret Service agents but returned days later, leading to his first trespassing arrest.

A judge released Li on bail with the condition that he stay away from the property, but he continued to approach the estate. Last week, he contacted a nearby homeowner, asking if she could take him into Mar-a-Lago. The homeowner called authorities, and Li was sent to a mental hospital for observation.
After his release Thursday, Li returned to the estate, violating his court order and resulting in his latest arrest. He now faces two misdemeanor trespassing charges, and his bail for the earlier charge has been revoked.

Mar-a-Lago has seen multiple security breaches, including incidents involving other Chinese nationals. In 2019, Yujing Zhang was arrested after entering the property with electronic devices, prompting concerns about potential espionage.

The Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office, representing Li, has declined to comment on the case. His repeated attempts to access Mar-a-Lago raise questions about security measures at Trump’s high-profile residence.
