On Saturday, President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to both Hillary Clinton and George Soros, sparking controversy among many Americans.
During the ceremony, Biden highlighted Clinton’s achievements in public service, noting her groundbreaking role as the first First Lady to win election to the U.S. Senate, and her historic nomination as the first woman presidential candidate from a major U.S. political party. The statement notably omitted any reference to the Benghazi incident that claimed American lives.

Clinton accepted the award amid applause from the ceremony’s attendees, while Alex Soros received the medal on behalf of his father, George Soros.
The award ceremony has reignited discussions about Clinton’s role in the 2012 Benghazi tragedy, where four Americans lost their lives during a terrorist attack in Libya. Among the victims were Ambassador Christopher Stevens and information management officer Sean Smith, whose deaths occurred under Clinton’s watch as Secretary of State.
The attack also claimed the lives of two former Navy SEALs, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, in circumstances where Clinton’s State Department allegedly refused to dispatch available assistance. Reports indicate that Special Operations forces, ready to intervene, received stand-down orders despite hundreds of Islamic insurgents surrounding the Americans.

In the aftermath, the Obama administration attributed the attack to reactions from a YouTube video, a claim that later proved misleading. Clinton’s handling of the situation drew further criticism when she faced accusations of providing false information to the victims’ families.
The controversy ultimately led to legal action, with parents of two victims filing lawsuits against Clinton, citing her negligent handling of classified information as a contributing factor to the Benghazi attack.
