Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). “While I generally support keeping the government operational, we must now scrutinize where cost savings are being achieved,” Jackson stated during an appearance on Newsmax’s “National Report” program.

Jackson emphasized that Musk, who is not an elected official, has been overstepping the authority of the legislative branch through his actions at DOGE. “We are uncertain about the full extent of their cuts,” Jackson said. “We would prefer to have an open discussion on this matter. This was not a very transparent or honest approach to introducing a government funding bill.”

While acknowledging the importance of efficiency in government operations, Jackson underscored the need for DOGE to consider the human impact of dismissing numerous employees. “I hope he is weighing the consequences for individuals who will lose their housing and jobs, and how we will ensure that we are not creating a new set of problems,” Jackson stated. “The cure must be proportionate to the medicine being administered. The country was not facing a crisis 90 days ago. He is creating a crisis.”

The Illinois congressman further criticized the firings and the back-and-forth on tariffs as being excessively erratic. “We are simply requesting that the members of Congress and the Senate be allowed to fulfill our duties,” Jackson asserted. “There are three branches of government. He needs to present himself before Congress and engage in a dialogue with us. That is what we are asking for.”
