Dan Crenshaw has found himself at the center of a social media controversy following a contentious exchange with prominent conservative personality Catturd on X, where critics frequently refer to the congressman as “Eye Patch McCain.”
The dispute ignited when conservative journalist Nick Sortor shared information from DC sources suggesting Crenshaw was leading efforts to secure congressional pay increases. In his post, Sortor wrote:
“DC sources tell me that Dan Crenshaw is spearheading the effort to get a pay raise for Congress.

Last week when he was asked about his stock trading, Crenshaw whined that members of Congress haven’t had a pay raise since 2009.
Crenshaw ALMOST got his way, with a pay increase for members + benefits being included in today’s massive spending boondoggle.
Recently, Crenshaw even said “you have no way to better yourself as a Congressman” without being able to trade stocks. That’s INSANE.
THIS GUY is responsible for LOADS of the garbage we see being thrown into spending bills. All for his own benefit.
Time for Eye Patch McCain to go.”
The situation drew attention from Elon Musk, who remarked: “Congress should only get a raise when the budget is balanced.”
Crenshaw’s response to these allegations was notably aggressive, with the congressman using explicit language to deny the claims, calling Sortor a “f-king lying piece of sh-t” and “f-king incels.”
“Yeah or maybe you’re a f-king lying piece of sh-t because I’m not even on the YES list for the whip team. Never have been. But hey, whatever gets you pathetic bottom feeders your click bait. F-king incels,” Crenshaw stated.
Catturd, a well-known conservative commentator, joined the fray, criticizing Crenshaw’s voting record and financial dealings since joining Congress. This prompted Crenshaw to launch another heated response, emphasizing his military service and challenging Catturd’s anonymity.
“Anonymous coward like “catturd” talking shit without any evidence. I’m used to it. Sorry I was guy fighting the wars that little bitches like you would never dare to,” Crenshaw wrote.
“One of us has actually served this country and continues to, while losers like you make money being trolls on social media. I live in Atascocita, just outside Houston. If you think I’m “rich,” you’re a fucking idiot. The people getting rich off politics are the “influencers” like Catturd selling their platforms to the highest bidder. Sorry to break to it yall, that’s the truth.”
Catturd countered with a measured response, stating:
“#1 I’m an army vet
#2 I haven’t been anonymous for years, there’s literally a pic of me on my profile page and I do public events all the time and have a daily podcast.
#3 your stock trades are public record and you’re also a millionaire.
You’re not very good at this…”
Yeah get it right -Dan Crenshaw is the America-last, Ukraine-first war pig who doesn’t need a raise because of all the money he makes when he miraculously became a stock expert since joining Congress.

Far from being an anonymous internet personality, Catturd has established himself as an influential conservative voice, appearing on major platforms including Tucker Carlson Tonight. His social media presence has grown significantly, attracting attention from prominent figures including Elon Musk and former President Trump.
A previous incident highlighted Catturd’s impact when his humorous post about the Ukraine war provoked an intense reaction from then-Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who responded: “Literal evil. If I met you in person it would not end well… for you. Sicko. Trolls who have never done a thing in their life pretend to be patriots and laugh at real warriors.”
Catturd’s response to Kinzinger’s threat was characteristically lighthearted: “Sitting congressman threatens violence against a U.S. citizen over laughing at a meme they found funny. I can’t stop laughing at this infant.”
