A 22-year-old Iowa man, previously linked to a Pitt student’s disappearance, encountered additional travel complications when authorities discovered his replacement US passport lacked the necessary exit stamp.
Joshua Riibe experienced detention during his layover in Puerto Rico on Wednesday evening, according to NotiCentro coverage. Footage from the scene captured his father, Albert, instructing him to “Ask for your lawyer!”

The duration of the questioning remained unclear, with authorities focusing on the missing exit stamp from his newly issued passport, which he had received from the US consulate in the Dominican Republic, NotiCentro explained.
The incident heightened Albert’s frustration with the ongoing delays in returning home. At the airport, he expressed his exasperation to media representatives, demanding they “leave us alone.”

Visibly distressed, Albert shared his perspective with reporters, stating, “I’m just a dad, who had his son taken away, and I don’t understand we just spent two weeks trying to stay together, and now… I don’t understand.”
