Journalist Eva Marie Kogel reportedly tendered her resignation as soon as the newspaper hit the stands on Friday.
The article by Musk was commissioned by the boss, Mathias Döpfner, the head of Axel Springer, the publisher of the paper.

As reported by The Telegraph, “In his article, Mr. Musk said Germany’s traditional parties had failed by delivering economic stagnation, social unrest and erosion of national identity.”
Just before Christmas, Musk divulged his backing for AfD, calling it ‘the only hope for Germany‘, while also attempting to bring a sense of rationality to the discussion and denying that the party would be far-right.
“Writing in Die Welt, Mr. Musk said: “The AfD can save Germany from becoming a shadow of its former self,” adding that the party could spur economic prosperity, cultural integrity and technological innovation.”
AfD’s Alice Weidel has surpassed CDU’s Friedrich Merz in the polls.
Musk has made substantial investments in Germany’s industrial and technological sectors, including a gigafactory in Brandenburg, so he believes he has earned the right to voice his opinion.
“‘The AfD is committed to a controlled immigration policy that prioritizes integration and the preservation of German culture and security‘, he wrote, adding: ‘This is not about xenophobia, but about ensuring that Germany does not lose its identity in the pursuit of globalization. A nation must preserve its core values and cultural heritage in order to remain strong and united’.”
He also expressed support for AfD’s policies of deregulating the market, reducing bureaucracy, and lowering taxes.

“He described Germany’s decision to phase out nuclear power to rely on fossil fuels and renewable energy as ‘costly’ and ‘naïve’, claiming the nation does not have sufficient battery storage to ensure stability of electricity supply, and endorsed AfD’s drive to encourage critical thinking in education rather than indoctrination.”
Musk opined that AfD is not ‘far-right’, characterizing it as ‘political realism without the political correctness‘.
“Pointing to Alice Weidel, the party’s leader, who has a same-sex partner from Sri Lanka, he said: ‘Does that sound like Hitler to you?’, adding: ‘To those who condemn the AfD as extremist, I say: Don’t be fooled by the label attached to it’.”
