A former senior aide to Vice President Kamala Harris has made a surprising proposal regarding President Biden’s leadership. Jamal Simmons, Harris’s previous communications director, publicly suggested that Biden should step down from his position to pave the way for Harris to become the nation’s first female president.
Taking to social media platform X, Simmons expressed his thoughts, stating “Joe Biden has been amazing but he should fulfill one last promise — to be transitional. Biden should resign and make Kamala Harris the first woman president. It’d turn tables on Trump.”

Simmons elaborated that such a move would prevent Harris from having to oversee the Senate’s certification of Trump’s electoral victory on January 6, while also creating an easier path for future female presidential candidates.
This unexpected commentary comes from someone who previously worked closely with Harris’s team. Simmons joined her office in January 2022 with the goal of enhancing her public image, though his tenure lasted only one year, concluding in January 2023.
Let the finger-pointing begin! Team Biden is blaming @KamalaHarris's campaign, but her people are firing right back at the big guy for not stepping down sooner. But let's remember, these are the same people who lied to our face about @JoeBiden being healthy as a horse up until… pic.twitter.com/Ad0eaMXjyU

The timing of Simmons’s remarks is particularly noteworthy, following Trump’s decisive victory in the presidential election. The former president secured his return to the White House by winning all seven crucial swing states, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan. This resulted in Trump garnering 312 Electoral College votes compared to Harris’s 226, well surpassing the required 270-vote threshold for victory.
