Billionaire and advocate for leftist international institutions Bill Gates has donated $50 million to a super PAC supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential run, according to a report by the New York Times. The donation was made to Future Forward USA Action, which is connected to the Democratic super PAC Future Forward.
Gates has not publicly confirmed the donation amount, but he issued a statement to the New York Times explaining his support for Harris. “I support candidates who prioritize improving health care, fighting poverty, and tackling climate change,” Gates said, adding that the upcoming election is particularly significant for Americans and vulnerable populations worldwide.
Gates’ ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, has also endorsed Harris, contributing an undisclosed amount to her campaign.
Elon Musk, who tops the Forbes list as the wealthiest person in the world, has taken a different stance, donating $75 million to President Donald Trump’s campaign through his America PAC.
With Gates and Musk backing opposing candidates, the 2024 election has drawn the attention—and financial contributions—of the world’s richest individuals, raising the stakes for both campaigns.
