In a peculiar display of machismo, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz appeared on California Governor Gavin Newsom’s podcast, expressing frustration over Fox News’ apparent questioning of his masculinity. The interaction quickly escalated into an unusual combination of threats and defensive posturing.

During the podcast, which appears to be Newsom’s platform for a potential 2028 campaign, Walz addressed what he perceived as Fox News’ fixation on his masculinity. He referenced an incident where the network allegedly criticized his use of a straw for drinking a milkshake.

“Not that I spend much time thinking about this, and it just baffled me how much time they spent trying to attack me that I wasn’t, like, masculine enough in their vision,” Walz said, continuing to discuss what he viewed as an obsession with his masculinity. “I saw Fox News did a couple of days because I used a straw — and I’m like, ‘Hell, man, what am I — how else do you drink a milkshake?’-type of thing. But they focused on it obsessively.”

The conversation took an aggressive turn when Walz declared, “I think I could kick most of their a**. I do think that.” He followed this with a contradictory statement about being able to outrun them, suggesting, “I don’t know if we’re going to fall into that place where we want to challenge you to a, you know, a WWE fight here type of thing.”

The governor’s comments drew criticism from an unexpected source when Caitlyn Jenner, a Fox News contributor, responded on social media, stating, “I am more ‘masculine’ than this 🤡 Gov Walz.”

Walz’s appearance on the podcast, which included threats toward both male and female Fox News hosts while simultaneously claiming to oppose misogyny, highlighted the peculiar nature of the entire exchange. The governor, who had previously built his image on promoting “new masculinity,” found himself alternating between threatening physical confrontation and suggesting escape tactics.

The incident represents a striking departure from traditional political discourse, with Walz, a Democrat who has criticized Republicans for being “weird,” now engaging in unusual declarations about his own masculinity while simultaneously denouncing others for focusing on the topic.
