A violent incident outside a New York City nightclub resulted in ten people being injured when multiple assailants opened fire into a crowd late Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. outside Amazura nightclub, where approximately 15 individuals between the ages of 16 and 20 had gathered. The perpetrators approached the group and began firing indiscriminately.

At the time of the shooting, the venue was hosting a private function. According to AM NY, the event was reportedly organized to commemorate “a known gang member in the community slain last October whose birthday coincided with New Year’s Day.”

The attackers discharged roughly 30 rounds into the assembled crowd before fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle. The New York Post identified four gunmen in the attack, which left four males and six females wounded. Medical professionals expect all victims to recover from their injuries.

The incident occurred in New York state, which maintains the second-strongest gun control measures nationwide.
