A hacker infiltrated New York University’s website on Saturday, temporarily replacing its content with alleged student test score data and racist content. The university’s homepage, which typically showcases athletic achievements and campus imagery, was transformed into a dark display featuring green text and purported academic performance statistics.
The unauthorized changes remained visible for approximately two hours before NYU regained control of their website around 12:54 p.m. The hacker, who identifies as female and uses the handle “@bestn–gy” on X, posted what appeared to be charts comparing SAT scores, ACT results, and GPAs across different racial groups for the class of 2024.
“On June 29 2023, racial affirmative action in college admissions was ruled illegal,” the hacker’s message reads. “Computer N–gy Exploitation (CNE) reveals NYU continued anyway.”

The compromised website included downloadable files containing the allegedly stolen information. While the extent of the security breach remains unclear, the perpetrator claimed on social media that the information came directly from NYU’s data warehouse, stating: “It’s literally just raw data from NYU’s own data warehouse. I just put in some bar graphs.”
This isn’t the first university cyber attack attributed to this individual. The hacker claimed responsibility for a previous incident at the University of Minnesota in 2023, which resulted in the exposure of Social Security numbers belonging to over 7 million students.
“There’s a lot more data from their data warehouse that could be analyzed further,” @bestn–gy wrote. “I only posted (redacted) bare minimum to prove they’re breaking the law.”

The displayed data allegedly showed higher ACT and SAT scores among Asian students, while white students demonstrated superior GPA performance. The page was topped with the phrase “TOP SECRET//NIGINT//NONORM.”
NYU representatives had not provided an official response when contacted for comment about the incident.
