Israel has stepped forward to provide assistance to Los Angeles in its battle against devastating wildfires, following an inquiry made by Breitbart News during a press briefing at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

The announcement comes as Los Angeles grapples with the destructive impact of multiple fires, including the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, which have resulted in widespread devastation, destroying thousands of homes and forcing numerous families to evacuate.

According to The Times of Israel: “The Fire and Rescue Authority will send a team of five fire protection experts to the United States this evening, to help responders combat the blazes now sweeping southern California, says the agency’s spokeswoman.

“We have had wildfires already in Israel, perhaps not of the size over there [in California] but still, we have had quite big ones,” says spokeswoman Tal Volvovitch. “We are now seeing, outside Israel, the sheer damage that fire can cause and the power it has.”

Initially, the Fire and Rescue Authority had considered deploying a larger contingent of several dozen firefighters to the U.S. West Coast, but ultimately opted for the smaller specialized team.

The decision came after Breitbart News questioned Israel’s potential role in assisting Los Angeles and other global cities with firefighting expertise. In response, Israeli government spokesman David Mencer acknowledged ongoing discussions about the matter, while emphasizing the strength of U.S.-Israel relations and Israeli water management capabilities.

Israel’s firefighting forces have recently faced their own challenges, combating numerous wildfires in the country’s northern region caused by Hezbollah rocket attacks. Before the current conflict, they also tackled fires in southern Israel sparked by incendiary balloons launched from Gaza by Hamas.
