Joe Manchin Reveals When He Will Endorse Joe Biden

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), a thorn in the Biden administration, recently responded to whether he is waiting for President Joe Biden to move toward the center before endorsing him.

During an interview with MSNBC host Katy Tur, the West Virginia congressman said Americans would like the president to apologize for the issues facing the country because of his disastrous policies, particularly the crisis at the southern border.

Manchin said Americans want Biden to acknowledge, “We made a mistake at the border, a big mistake at the border, but he’s willing to fix it.”

The West Virginia lawmaker added that the president should have shut down the border earlier and that he’s “begging him now, if this can be fixed in Congress, to basically do and declare a national emergency, because the border is of a national concern and a national emergency.”

Tur asked Manchin, “So, are you waiting for him to move, is that what you’re holding your endorsement for?”

In response, Manchin said, “I think he needs to move. I really do. I think the people want [him] to say, we made a mistake at the border, a big mistake at the border, but he’s willing to fix it.”

During the segment, the West Virginia Democrat praised the Senate’s immigration bill. Shortly thereafter Tur asked, “[W]hen you’re asking about immigration, what more do you want Joe Biden to do?”

Manchin replied by pointing out that although the southern border crisis is the president’s fault, Biden chose to allow millions of illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. in a “sympathetic way,” following the COVID-19 pandemic. The West Virginia congressman slammed former President Donald Trump for not agreeing to the immigration plan put forward by the left in Congress.

“He tried, and he saw we were getting overrun, we should have shut it down. So, now he comes to an agreement…a border security bill, that would work, and Donald Trump moves in and says, oh, I’m sorry, I can’t do that, because it’s not good for my campaign or my politics, let’s wait.”

Manchin’s criticism of the former president is illogical since illegal immigration reached record lows during the Trump administration.
