A New York judge has delayed ruling on Donald Trump’s request to dismiss his hush-money case, citing the need to evaluate a recent Supreme Court decision regarding presidential immunity.

Judge Juan M. Merchan, who was originally scheduled to issue his decision on Tuesday, has pushed the ruling back to November 19th. This postponement comes as the court must now factor in Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election alongside considerations of presidential immunity.

The defense team made their request for postponement over the weekend through court-filed emails. Trump’s attorneys argued that there were “strong reasons for the requested stay, and eventually dismissal of the case in the interests of justice.”

This development marks another twist in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the former and future president, as the courts grapple with the unprecedented situation of a president-elect facing criminal charges.
