Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” just days before the crucial election, injecting an unexpected twist into the campaign.
Harris joined Maya Rudolph, who regularly portrays her on the show, in a sketch where they both played the candidate. Dressed identically, they humorously played with Harris’ name, suggesting Americans want to “end the drama-la” in politics with a “cool new stepmom-ala.”
The real Harris questioned her trademark laugh, which Rudolph confirmed was somewhat accurate. It marked Harris’ debut on the long-running comedy show, which has featured other presidential candidates over the years.

Following the appearance, Harris expressed her enjoyment to reporters before departing for Detroit, Michigan, a key battleground state.
Earlier that day, Harris and her opponent, Republican Donald Trump, held competing events in North Carolina, another crucial state in the upcoming election. This marked the fourth consecutive day of the candidates campaigning in the same state.
Recent polls showed Harris unexpectedly leading in Iowa, a state Trump had previously won handily.
Both candidates stuck to familiar themes during their appearances. Trump warned of potential policy changes regarding immigration if elected, while Harris cautioned about potential abuses of power if Trump returns to office.

He was joined on stage by women from a local college swim team who have objected to competing against transgender athletes, a topic featured in some of Trump’s campaign ads.
