Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, two central figures in President Donald Trump’s campaign, are facing significant backlash for bringing former DeSantis campaign staff into the America PAC. This key group, which is funded by Elon Musk, recently hired Generra Peck and Phil Cox—top operatives from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign, which has struggled to gain momentum.
The decision to bring in these DeSantis allies comes just weeks before early voting begins, raising concerns among Trump’s loyal supporters. Many fear that by adopting the same strategies that contributed to DeSantis’ poor performance, Trump’s campaign could be weakened in critical battleground states.
LaCivita has praised the shake-up, claiming the new team is a marked improvement. However, Trump insiders have pointed out that Peck and Cox’s approach closely resembles the failed tactics that hurt DeSantis’ efforts. In particular, they argue that removing loyal Trump vendors and replacing them with DeSantis operatives could undermine the campaign’s grassroots support.
America PAC’s growing role in key states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona has further fueled concerns. Some believe that relying on a DeSantis-run PAC risks repeating the same mistakes DeSantis made by outsourcing important campaign functions.
Trump supporters are also frustrated with LaCivita’s history of sidelining loyal Trump voices in favor of establishment figures. They worry that this pattern of bringing in establishment operatives could harm Trump’s chances as the election draws closer.
Despite these concerns, other Trump-aligned groups like Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point Action remain involved in supporting the president’s reelection efforts.
