Las Vegas Woman Accused Of Stealing Casket And Dumping Human Remains Outside Funeral Home

Patricia Sierra, 47, was arrested by Nevada police after she allegedly broke into a funeral home, stole a casket, and dumped the body outside. The incident, which occurred on August 27, 2024, has left many in the Las Vegas community disturbed. The body of a woman in her sixties was found lying facedown outside the Affordable Cremation and Burial Service early that morning.

Police were alerted to the scene after the body was discovered on landscaping rocks in front of the funeral home. Surveillance footage from the business showed Sierra breaking in, stealing the casket, and leaving the body outside. The footage was crucial in identifying Sierra, who was recognized by a convenience store customer two days later.

When questioned by police, Sierra reportedly admitted to the crime but claimed she had blacked out after drinking six beers. She said she didn’t remember the events due to her substance abuse issues. Sierra was apologetic, according to police reports, and insisted she was not trying to be malicious.

Sierra has been charged with grand larceny, burglary, and disturbing human remains. Her bail was set at $11,000, and she is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on September 18, 2024.
