Golden State Justice, a political action committee led by Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux, has issued a scathing rebuke of Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent campaign ad. The ad, which portrays Harris as tough on border security, has drawn fierce criticism from California law enforcement officials.
The PAC’s statement accuses Harris of undercutting efforts to combat cross-border crime during her tenure as California’s Attorney General. “She repeatedly defunded and shuttered task forces designed to protect our residents, leaving the Valley and our state vulnerable,”
the statement asserts.
Sheriff Boudreaux, featured in the ad without his consent, argues that Harris’s claims about her border security record are false. “The truth is, Harris never cared about the cartels and did nothing to stop people from illegally crossing the border,” he stated.
The controversy stems from a 2014 event where Harris allegedly took credit for a multi-national drug operation bust carried out by local law enforcement. Boudreaux and other officials present describe Harris’s behavior as dismissive and self-serving.
This dispute underscores the contentious nature of border security issues in the 2024 presidential race. It also raises questions about the use of law enforcement imagery in political advertising without explicit consent.
As the election approaches, Harris’s record on border security and her relationship with law enforcement are likely to face continued scrutiny. Meanwhile, Sheriff Boudreaux has made his position clear, expressing support for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
