A fortunate individual claimed the California Powerball jackpot this Saturday, bringing joy to employees at the retail location where the winning ticket was purchased.

According to the New York Post’s Sunday report, this marks the second major prize awarded in 2024, with an estimated value of $527 million.

Staff members at an Anaheim 7-Eleven received the thrilling news via telephone, their excitement evident in their reactions.

The winning numbers matched were 7, 11, 21, 53, 61, with a red Powerball number of 2, making the coincidence of two numbers matching the store’s name particularly noteworthy.

The establishment’s enthusiasm was well-founded, as the New York Post confirmed they would receive a $1 million bonus for selling the successful ticket.

“The unidentified winner can choose between the estimated $527 million jackpot paid out over 30 annual payments or a one-time lump sum of $243.8 million. The lucky winner had a 1 in 292,201,338 chance of winning the grand prize,” the outlet said.

This win follows California’s previous significant Powerball event in November 2022, when UPI reported a ticket worth $2 billion was sold in the state.

“The prize grew to the largest-ever in U.S. lottery history last Saturday when no one hit all six numbers in the $1.5 billion drawing. This sent the jackpot soaring to $1.9 billion ahead of Monday’s scheduled drawing, before being adjusted to $2.04 billion on Tuesday,” the article read.

More recently, UPI noted on April 3, 2024, that “the Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing will be worth $1.09 billion, the fourth largest jackpot in history, according to Powerball officials.”
