The breakthrough came when authorities located the teen at a marina adjacent to the White Cap Fish Market in Islip, approximately 13 miles from her home. Law enforcement confirmed she was safe and in their custody.
Frank Gervasi, Emmarae’s father, expressed his gratitude through social media, celebrating the answer to his prayers. The Together Against Trafficking Facebook group provided additional context, with Stephanie Rae clarifying: “To address any misinformation: Emma was found in Islip by her father, thanks to a crucial tip. She was not there willingly, and she was overjoyed to see Frank Gervasi when reunited.”
Throughout the ordeal, local community members organized search parties while the Gabby Petito Foundation collaborated with Long Island organizations to heighten awareness. Frank Gervasi personally conducted searches across Long Island, making emotional appeals through social media. Just one day before her discovery, he recorded a heartfelt message: “Emma, if you hear this video, we love you very much. We miss you, and we want you to come home.”

Melissa Dervay, Emmarae’s mother, described the overwhelming relief upon hearing her daughter’s voice: “The moment I heard her voice and knew she was OK, I felt a weight lifted off my body. I’ve been so tense for the past four weeks, quietly fighting a battle. Now, I’m elated. I feel light, and I just want to scream, ‘She’s OK. She’s been found.'”
The investigation continues with multiple individuals reportedly involved, as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s disappearance.
