The grieving mother of model Christy Giles has demanded the death penalty for David Pearce, the Hollywood producer accused of causing her daughter’s fatal overdose in 2021.
In an emotional interview with The Sun, Dusty Giles condemned Pearce, who faces charges in the deaths of her 24-year-old daughter and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26. “Life, death penalty he needs. He’s a monster. He doesn’t need to have bail bonds or up for parole or anything,” she told The Sun.
The tragic events unfolded after Giles and Cabrales-Arzola attended a warehouse party in Los Angeles on November 12, 2021, before proceeding to Pearce’s apartment, which he shared with co-defendant Brandt Osborn. Security footage revealed that an Uber ordered by Giles, who had texted her friend expressing her desire to leave, arrived at 5:45 a.m. on November 13 but departed after waiting five minutes.

Later that day, at approximately 5 p.m., Pearce and Osborn, wearing masks, transported Giles’ unresponsive body to Southern California Medical Center in Culver City in an unlicensed black Toyota Prius, claiming they had discovered her unconscious on the street.
Cabrales-Arzola, who tested positive for cocaine, MDMA, and other substances, suffered multiple organ failures. She remained in a coma for two weeks before her family removed life support on November 30, 2021, one day before her 27th birthday.
In July 2022, prosecutors charged Pearce with two counts of murder and two counts of controlled substance distribution, while Osborn faced two counts of accessory after the fact. Both defendants entered not guilty pleas.
Toxicology reports revealed Giles had ingested a fatal combination of cocaine, fentanyl, ketamine, and GHB, a known date rape drug. Pearce also faces multiple sexual assault charges involving seven victims over a 13-year period.

The trial, which began on January 9 following delays due to Pearce’s attorney changes, featured testimony from photographer Michael Ansbach. He stated that Pearce provided the women with fentanyl-laced cocaine and drinks, adding that when the women appeared lifeless, Pearce allegedly remarked, “dead girls don’t talk.”
“It’s a phrase that echoes in my nightmares and disturbs me,” Ansbach testified.
Despite Dusty Giles’ call for capital punishment, California law currently prohibits the death penalty. The distraught mother, who traveled from Alabama to Los Angeles for the hearings, described the experience as “surreal” and expressed her ongoing anxiety, stating, “I’m like a cat with a nervous, swinging tail under a rock.”
