A PAC representing Nikki Haley voters has shifted its support to Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming general election. The PAC’s backing comes after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee.
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made,” Biden said in a statement. He called on Democrats to unite behind Harris to defeat former President Donald Trump in November.
The PAC announced on social media that it would rename itself “Haley Voters for Harris,” emphasizing the urgency of supporting Harris. They praised Harris as a “tough prosecutor” and recommended moderates like Governor Josh Shapiro, Governor Roy Cooper, or Governor Andy Beshear as potential running mates.
Craig Snyder, the PAC’s director, highlighted Harris’s appeal to centrist voters, stating she is well-suited to defeat Trump. He described Harris as coming from the centrist wing of the Democratic Party, which aligns with the PAC’s goals.
Despite this endorsement, Nikki Haley herself has been advocating for Republican unity. Speaking at the Republican National Convention, she emphasized the importance of supporting Trump to keep America strong and safe, even if there are occasional disagreements.
Harris has also received endorsements from prominent Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, who praised Harris’s prosecutorial skills and urged support for her campaign.
Clinton emphasized the need for collective effort to ensure Harris’s success against Trump.
