North Dakota Governor Faces Senate for Interior Role

Doug Burgum appeared before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Thursday, January 16, participating in a confirmation hearing for his nomination as Secretary of the Interior.

The current North Dakota governor, selected by President-elect Donald Trump, is slated to succeed incumbent Secretary Deb Haaland in the position.

This hearing is part of a series of confirmation proceedings taking place this week for Trump’s cabinet nominees, as the January 20 inauguration approaches. Pete Hegseth’s testimony occurred on Tuesday, while other nominees including Pam Bondi, John Ratcliffe, Kristi Noem, and Lee Zeldin are scheduled to appear throughout the remainder of the week.
