A recently unveiled portrait of former Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley was removed from the Pentagon, as evidenced by a CNN photograph. The removal’s timing coincided with a social media post by Katie Miller, a former Trump administration official and Stephen Miller’s spouse, who declared “This is coming down.”
The transition period at the Pentagon continues, with Defense Secretary Nominee Pete Hegseth still awaiting Senate confirmation. Before leaving office, President Biden issued Milley a preemptive pardon.

During Trump’s presidency, Milley reportedly took unusual steps during the 2020 election dispute, allegedly instructing military leaders to consult him before executing certain presidential orders, effectively inserting himself into the chain of command despite his advisory role. Reports also suggest he promised to warn Chinese officials of potential U.S. attacks during the presidential transition.
Milley drew attention for supporting Critical Race Theory education at West Point, famously stating, “I want to understand white rage and I’m white,” during a House Armed Services Committee hearing.
Army National Guard veteran Mark Lucas shared his views with Breitbart News, stating, “President Joe Biden’s pardon of General Mark Milley will cement his legacy as an embarrassment to our nation and potential traitor. The removal of his Pentagon portrait is appropriate due to his tainted service.”

Lucas added, “Milley’s failures brought dishonor to the United States of America. He abandoned our warfighters in Afghanistan resulting in the death of 12 servicemembers at Abbey Gate during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.”
Citing the Ranger Creed’s fifth stanza, Lucas continued, “I am advocating for his Ranger Tab to be revoked due to the unprecedented blanket pardon he received from President Biden.”
Trump subsequently terminated Milley’s government affiliations, including his position on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council appointed by Biden.
