The Princess of Wales delighted kindergarteners during their field trip to London’s National Portrait Gallery, where she joined them on their school bus journey.

Catherine Middleton, dressed elegantly in pinstriped trousers, a turtleneck with blazer, and black heels, walked hand-in-hand with a young student named Grace as they explored the gallery’s interactive Bobeam Tree Trail.

Teacher Alix Ascough described the experience as “magical” for the All Souls Church of England Primary School students. “It was an awe and wonder moment,” she gushed. “It’s what memories are made of.”

The princess’s natural demeanor impressed staff, with Ascough noting how Middleton “sat with children on the coach and chatted with them,” even engaging in a spirited game of “I Spy.”

Liz Smith, the gallery’s director of learning and engagement, praised Middleton’s approach, saying, “[She] was listening and integrated with the group. It was as if she was one of the mums, one of the helpers.”

This marks Middleton’s first public appearance in February, following her January visits to a children’s hospice in Sully and the Royal Marsden Hospital. Her schedule reflects a remarkable recovery from last year’s abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer treatment, which she successfully completed.

On World Cancer Day, Middleton shared an inspiring woodland photograph taken by her youngest son, Prince Louis, 6, with the caption “Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease.”

The princess, who has been married to Prince William since 2011, shares three children with him: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
