An unhappy resident in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) Queens 14th Congressional District has decided to run for office after seeing that she refuses to do something about the increase in crime and prostitution.
Ramses Frias has had enough with the neighborhood. With the illegal immigrant situation in his area, he decided to ditch the Democratic party and registered as a Republican to try and bring change to District 39.
Frias stated that the area has become an “epicenter” for illegal activities, including vending and prostitution.
According to the frustrated resident, three neighborhoods have been hit hard: Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights. Neighborhoods that used to be profitable have become run down. He said that illegal immigrants try to sell anything from pots and pans to clothes they have piled on the ground, stealing business from local businesses.
“Like most of my like-minded residents, we see this as a third-world market,” Frias said. “Basically, you just see clothes thrown across the floor … the items are stolen from donation bins or stolen from stores, and they just set up shop outside brick-and-mortar businesses.”
With Ocasio-Cortez in charge, Frias stated that the illegal immigrants get away with everything and they have no consequences.

Mothers in the neighborhood also expressed concern. According to the women, prostitutes were recruiting local children to hand out their explicit business cards, which also included photos of inappropriately dressed women. The women stand all day on the corners, even as families and children walk by.
Instead of taking responsibility for the area’s decline, Ocasio-Cortez, like her progressive colleagues, decided to blame her failures on someone else.
“What we are seeing here is the result of anti-immigrant policies that deny immigrants proper work permits and vending licenses, and drive them into the shadows of undignified conditions,” she said in a video response.
“This is just one way of many that anti-immigrant policies hurt all of us. Paths to citizenship and work documentation can solve this problem – but Republicans would rather block those so they can film people in their worst moments for views,” she said.
To make matters worse, the “Squad” member has not campaigned in the area.
According to Frias, Ocasio-Cortez has yet to be seen in the neighborhood. He stated that he lives a few blocks away and sees the destruction every day. He volunteered to escort her around to see the damage firsthand.
Frias wasn’t the only one who noticed the decline in the Queens district. New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) also noted the issue with Ocasio-Cortez’s district after a prostitution ring was broken up in January.
