In a surprising turn of events, Bethenny Frankel has shifted her stance on Taylor Swift’s presence at NFL games, defending the pop star against critics who booed her at the 2025 Super Bowl.
The former reality TV star took to Instagram to express her disapproval of the hostile reception Swift received during Sunday’s game. In her passionate video message, Frankel questioned the motivation behind such negative behavior, emphasizing that Swift hadn’t done anything to warrant such treatment.
“You don’t have to be a fan, a nonfan. What human being boos someone else who hasn’t really done anything wrong?” Frankel asked her followers Monday.
“That’s mean-spirited. That says bad things for our daughters and the future,” she continued while acknowledging that she “didn’t see” Philadelphia Eagles fans’ negative reaction to Swift on the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The post garnered support from fellow celebrities, including former “Real Housewife” Yolanda Hadid, who responded with applause emojis. Comedian Nikki Glaser also weighed in with strong words of support.
“It was so gross. And I love the hypocrisy of these comments. You all would lose your minds if you saw her in the street and beg for a selfie. America is cooked,” Glaser commented.
The comedian later expressed further frustration on her podcast, questioning the public’s hostile attitude toward Swift. Tennis legend Serena Williams also joined the chorus of supporters, reaching out to Swift directly on social media with words of encouragement.
“I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo [sic]!!” Williams posted on X.

During the game, Swift, who was stylishly dressed in a white tank, sparkly shorts, and knee-high boots, appeared caught off guard by the negative reception. According to a lip reader’s analysis for the Daily Mail, she turned to a friend and asked, “Aw, what? What’s going on?”
This defense marks a significant shift from Frankel’s previous criticism of Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, which began in summer 2023. Last September, Frankel had mocked Swift’s enthusiastic presence at Kelce’s games, comparing their relationship to a rapidly growing Chia Pet and suggesting Swift was acting like a longtime partner despite the relationship’s newness.
At the time, Frankel went viral for slamming Swift’s behavior at Kelce’s games.
The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum quipped, “It felt like the Chia Pet of a relationship. Like, just add water. Like, they were together for 10 years. … She literally looked like she had been in a serious relationship with this guy for decades.”
Her criticism even drew a response from Travis Kelce’s father, Ed, who dismissed her as a “troll” in a Facebook post.
