Republicans are expressing optimism about their chances of flipping a Senate seat in Ohio, citing unprecedented early voting turnout that could benefit their candidate, Bernie Moreno.
Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We’ve got a great shot.” He emphasized the importance of early voting, noting that it has traditionally favored Democrats but is now showing strong Republican participation.
Triantafilou pointed out that Republican-leaning counties are outpacing Democrat-leaning counties in early voting turnout. He believes this trend could lead to a victory for Moreno over incumbent Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.
The chairman highlighted the significance of early voting in Ohio, which began on October 11 and continues until November 5, the day before Election Day. He stressed that Republicans are actively encouraging their supporters to take advantage of early voting options.
Moreno’s campaign has been gaining momentum, with recent polls showing him closing the gap with Brown. A Emerson College poll from mid-October revealed Brown leading by just three points, within the margin of error.
