Nicole Shanahan, who previously ran alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in an independent presidential bid, has accused the justice system of being manipulated for political purposes, particularly against former President Donald Trump. Shanahan’s remarks come after Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a new grand jury indictment against Trump, further fueling the ongoing legal battles surrounding the former president.
Shanahan admitted that she was once skeptical of claims that Trump was being persecuted, but her views changed after her involvement in a New York Ballot Access case. “OK, I get it now,” she wrote, explaining that her experience revealed how the justice system is being “co-opted and abused” by individuals with “malevolent political agendas.”
The former running mate’s revelations follow her and Kennedy’s decision to end their presidential campaign, a move Shanahan attributes to extensive sabotage by the Democratic Party. She accused the DNC-aligned Clear Choice PAC of funneling millions into efforts to undermine their campaign, which she claims was turned into a “spoiler” rather than a genuine bid for the presidency.
Shanahan’s comments highlight a growing concern that the justice system is being weaponized for political purposes, particularly against Trump. Her shift in perspective underscores the deepening distrust in the fairness of legal proceedings involving high-profile political figures, raising questions about the integrity of the justice system in the current political climate.
