Courtney Love, the 60-year-old former Hole frontwoman and Kurt Cobain’s widow, has announced her plans to obtain British citizenship, citing Donald Trump’s return to the presidency as her motivation.

During an appearance at London’s Royal Geographical Society, Love enthusiastically declared, “I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen—I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me!”

The singer-songwriter didn’t hold back her feelings about the former president, expressing her concerns about his administration. In her characterization of Trump’s inner circle, she stated, “In terms of Trump, and particularly this group… it’s like emperor-core—like, [they’re] wearing million-dollar watches. Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now.”

Love joins a growing list of celebrities who’ve threatened to leave America due to Trump’s presidency, including prominent figures such as Ellen DeGeneres, Eva Longoria, and Ryan Gosling. Among these “Donald Dashers,” Rosie O’Donnell has already acted on her words, relocating to Ireland following Trump’s reelection.

O’Donnell explained her decision in a TikTok video, stating, “I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are.”

However, observers have noted that Love’s announcement might be more performative than practical, given that she has already been residing in London since 2019, well before Trump’s second presidential term began.
