During their discussion from Washington, Rubio emphasized that maintaining robust U.S. support for Israel remains a key focus of President Biden’s foreign policy agenda, according to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Bruce noted that Rubio praised Netanyahu for Israel’s military achievements against Hamas and Hezbollah, while also promising dedicated efforts to secure the release of remaining hostages in Gaza.
These assurances align with the Biden administration’s established policy of supporting Israel, following previous diplomatic milestones including the relocation of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, formal recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and the groundbreaking Abraham Accords.
These diplomatic initiatives have contributed significantly to regional stability in the Middle East.
A temporary pause in the 15-month conflict between Israel and Hamas began Sunday, facilitating the exchange of hostages and prisoners between the two sides.
As the diplomatic exchange took place, Israel continued its military campaign called “Iron Wall” in the West Bank.
Israeli forces reported eliminating more than 10 militant targets, while Palestinian health officials documented 10 fatalities and 35 injuries resulting from the operation.
On the same day, Rubio engaged in separate diplomatic discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, focusing on regional concerns.
Their conversation covered multiple regional issues including Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza, with particular attention given to Iranian activities and its allied groups, as reported by AFP.
