School Lunch And Adoption Canceled Over Christian Beliefs

There’s no such thing as a free lunch — unless you use “preferred pronouns” and subscribe to the worldview of the LGBT ideology.

In one of a growing number of government intrusions on religious freedom, a Christian Church in the deep blue state of California was denied participation in a preschool lunch program because of its beliefs on gender and LGBT issues.

The Church of Compassion and Dayspring Christian Learning Center has been excluded from the state’s “Child and Adult Food Care Program” because of its Christian beliefs on same-gender attraction and refusal to use “preferred pronouns”.

While one doesn’t usually associate the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) with gender politics, the Federal organization imposed certain requirements on state administrators of its food and nutrition service programs. In this case, the state programs were required to prohibit “discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation.”

So much for those who naively believed that the Department of Agriculture was all about, well, agriculture.

The church got together with the conservative Christian advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and sued both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Social Services for religious discrimination. This week ADF forced a settlement of nearly $200,000, indicating that both defendants knew they were the ones doing the discriminating. Perhaps they feared the case reaching the United States Supreme Court and establishing a precedent. ADF has won 15 cases in the Supreme Court since 2011.

School lunches aren’t the only targets of government-sponsored hostility to Christian beliefs. Parents are denied the opportunity to adopt children based on their beliefs in “one man, one woman” relationships and that gender is immutable at birth. Jessica Bates is a mother of five from Oregon who was prevented from taking in foster children by the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) based on her Christian beliefs on gender identity. Oregon required that she “respect, accept, and support” the gender identity or expression of any child placed in their home.

The same ADF is helping Bates sue the state of Oregon over these discriminatory requirements. In a FoxNews article, Bates said: “When the government discriminates against people of faith from adoption and foster care, it’s children in need who suffer.”

LGBT controversies are at the forefront of nearly every aspect of life and culture. The Biden Administration has been relentless in imposing LGBT beliefs in the United States — both in private and public life. Misgendering has increasingly become a fireable offense. Males who impersonate females are permitted to participate in women’s sports. In many states, people may change their birth certificate to specify a gender other than their biological one. And males are permitted to use women’s locker rooms and restrooms in schools, leading to criminal misconduct.
