Senator Ron Johnson expressed strong support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ahead of Wednesday’s Health and Human Services secretary confirmation hearing, emphasizing his desire to discuss strategies for reinstating scientific integrity and enhancing government agency transparency.
Speaking on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America,” Johnson, a Senate Finance Committee member, praised Kennedy’s scientific approach and shared his personal connection developed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am a big supporter of RFK, Jr., I’ve gotten to know him during COVID. I think he is very science-based.
Working with President Trump to address chronic illness, RFK Jr. will save lives, unify our country, and make America a healthier nation.

“From my standpoint, I want to talk [at his confirmation hearing] about how science has been corrupted. I want to talk about how these agencies have been captured and what is his game-plan in terms of restoring integrity to science and making these agencies far more transparent.”
Johnson highlighted his frustration with federal agencies’ lack of response to his COVID-related inquiries, noting that “I have written over 60 oversight letters on some aspect of our response to COVID. I really haven’t gotten squat from the agencies, [and] that is completely unacceptable.”
The Wisconsin senator emphasized the public’s right to access agency information and expressed concerns about rising chronic illness rates, particularly autism. He commended Kennedy’s commitment to truth-seeking and scientific approach to these issues.
Regarding Pete Hegseth’s recent defense secretary confirmation, Johnson applauded the appointment, stating: “The good news here is that Pete Hegseth was confirmed and now we have a warrior … in charge of the Defense Department.”
Johnson concluded by suggesting Hegseth’s leadership would positively impact military recruitment, noting that “I think that will be inspiring not only to the people inside the military now but also to new recruits,” adding that “I think we will have a better chance of actually hitting our recruitment numbers now that we have someone who understands their concerns.”
