In an interview with CBS News’s Margaret Brennan, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), former running mate of President Donald Trump, outlined a bold pro-family agenda aimed at reducing financial burdens on families. This agenda includes expanding the child tax credit and implementing a childcare policy that would benefit not just parents utilizing childcare centers but also stay-at-home mothers, fathers, and grandparents.
SENATOR JD VANCE: “Why do we have [Kamala] coming out saying we should not have the child tax credit, which lowers tax rates for parents of young children? Democrats have become anti-family. It’s built into their policy. It’s time we called that out.” 👏pic.twitter.com/d6XW5dQeiO

Vance emphasized the desire to make it easier for families to start in the first place. “We want to bring down housing costs so that if you have a baby, there’s actually a place to raise that baby,” he stated. “We want to increase and expand the child tax credit. We want to make it easier for moms and dads to not be shocked by these surprise medical bills when they go to an out-of-network provider. We’re working on all this stuff, and I think that’s ultimately how we turn down the temperature a little bit, is to make it easier to choose life in the first place. Because when you talk to women, you talk to moms and dads, a lot of times they feel like, if you have a pregnancy, especially an unexpected pregnancy, there just aren’t options. We want to provide more options so that people are raising families in a thriving and happy way in this country.”
BREAKING: Republican vice presidential nominee, Sen. JD Vance, says he wants to boost the Child Tax Credit to $5,000 per child from its current $2,000 in an attempt to incentivize Americans to have more children.

The Republican senator revealed his intention to advocate for a permanent child tax credit expansion at the federal level. Currently, the child tax credit allows up to $2,000 per child. “I’d love to see a child tax credit that’s $5,000 per child. But you, of course, have to work with Congress to see how possible and viable that is,” Vance stated.
He also pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has criticized him for advocating child tax credits despite the fact that “Democrats in Congress have consistently supported an expanded child tax credit.”
