Sen. John Cornyn has delivered a stark message to former Rep. Matt Gaetz regarding the sexual misconduct allegations that loom over his potential attorney general confirmation hearings.
During a Wednesday meeting with Gaetz and Vice President-elect JD Vance, the Texas Republican and senior Judiciary Committee member emphasized the importance of complete transparency.

“All I said to him was that there are not going to be any secrets here. Everything’s eventually going to come out,” Cornyn told CNN, adding that he advised Gaetz about the benefits of full disclosure rather than allowing information to surface gradually.
The senator expressed confidence that his message resonated with Gaetz, describing him as sufficiently astute to grasp the implications of his advice.
Meanwhile, the House Ethics Committee failed to reach a consensus on sharing its investigative findings with the Judiciary Committee. Multiple votes were conducted, including attempts to release the complete report and just its supporting exhibits, both of which were unsuccessful.
The committee did, however, vote to finalize the report. According to Pennsylvania Rep. Susan Wild, the panel’s leading Democrat, further discussions are scheduled for December 5.

When questioned about his stance on Gaetz, Cornyn maintained a measured approach, citing his extensive confirmation experience and commitment to thorough evaluation. He emphasized the importance of ensuring both Gaetz and President-elect Donald Trump receive fair treatment during the process.
The day’s activities also included meetings between Gaetz, Vance, and several other Republican Judiciary Committee members, including Senators Lindsey Graham, Mike Lee, Josh Hawley, Marsha Blackburn, John Kennedy, and Ted Cruz.
