Sharon Stone criticized American ignorance and highlighted concerns about women’s safety during a recent panel discussion at Italy’s Torino Film Festival. The Hollywood actress shared her views when asked about the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Drawing parallels between Italy’s historical experience with fascism and America’s current political climate, Stone characterized her homeland as being in an “ignorant, arrogant adolescence.” She expressed concern about the American electoral process and questioned whether citizens were truly choosing their government.

The actress, who previously backed Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, pointed to Americans’ limited international exposure, noting that 80% lack passports. She emphasized that this isolation, combined with what she perceives as widespread lack of education, contributes to a dangerous naivety.

“We haven’t seen this before, in our country. So, Americans who don’t travel, who 80% don’t have a passport, who are uneducated, are in their extraordinary naïveté. What I can say is that the only way that we can help with these issues is to help each other,” the actress continued.

Stone then addressed male accountability in protecting women, stating, “We must say that good men must help good men, and those good men must be very aware that a lot of their friends are not good men. And you can’t continue to pretend that your friends are good men when they’re not good men.”

She further emphasized the urgency of addressing dangerous behavior, adding, “And you must be very clear minded and understand that your friends who are not good men are dangerous, violent men. And you have to keep them away from your daughters, your wives and your girlfriends, because this is the time when we can no longer look away, when bad men are bad.”

This isn’t the first time Stone has sparked discussion with her public statements. In 2021, she notably criticized cancel culture, describing it as “the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen.”
