In a disturbing case from Tennessee, a former fourth-grade teacher received a 25-year prison sentence for sexually abusing multiple students, including raping a 12-year-old boy who fathered her child.

Alissa McCommon entered guilty pleas to multiple charges, including child rape, statutory rape, and sexual exploitation of minors. The charges stemmed from her abuse of five students, though investigators identified up to 21 potential victims.

Circuit Court Judge Blake Neill handed down the concurrent sentences, which McCommon must serve without possibility of parole. The court also mandated her registration as a Violent Sex Offender and prohibited any contact with her victims. Her teaching credentials were permanently revoked.

During her time at Charger Academy, McCommon orchestrated elaborate schemes to access her preteen victims. She cultivated relationships through video gaming, social media connections, and deliberately befriending their mothers to exploit her position of trust.

Her predatory behavior intensified with one 12-year-old student, whom she contacted over 200 times and sent explicit Snapchat images. When the victim attempted to end contact, McCommon resorted to emotional manipulation, threatening self-harm.

Authorities arrested McCommon at her residence on September 8, 2023, following an investigation that began in 2021. The case gained momentum when a parent reported inappropriate messages between McCommon and her son in 2023. The school suspended McCommon without pay in August 2023.

After her initial arrest on 23 counts of sexual offenses, McCommon violated her release conditions by contacting a victim and returned to custody. During this period, she revealed her pregnancy to one of the boys, later confirmed through DNA testing to be the father.

The court subsequently barred McCommon from having any contact with the infant. At sentencing, the victim’s mother delivered an emotional statement: “The innocent child will be loved and raised without your influence. There’s no amount of time they can give you that will equal what God will give you. You will burn in hell.”

District Attorney Mark Davidson praised the outcome, stating: “These convictions and sentence demonstrate the continuing commitment of law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office to aggressively investigate and prosecute child rape and sexual abuse cases in this District, especially where there are minor child victims. We are glad that we were able to achieve finality, certainty, and closure for the victims and their families and the Tipton County community in this case.”
