Tom Hanks reprised his role as a Trump-supporting character in Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special, bringing back his controversial “Black Jeopardy!” persona from 2016.
The game show segment, led by Kenan Thompson as host Darnell, featured a star-studded lineup including Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, and Eddie Murphy. Murphy particularly impressed viewers with his spot-on Tracy Morgan impersonation, delivering one of his most memorable performances in recent years.

Hanks returned as Doug, his MAGA hat-wearing character, whose previous appearance showed him finding common ground with other contestants until the topic of “lives that matter” arose. During this latest sketch, Doug suggested creating a separate “White Jeopardy!” show and invited Darnell to participate, but Thompson’s character firmly declined, stating, “we don’t need it. We don’t need it.”
The sketch drew attention for a moment where Hanks’ character displayed visible discomfort when faced with shaking hands with a Black contestant. Social media reactions to the segment were largely negative.

Earlier, while discussing the 2024 election, Hanks shared his perspective on Trump’s potential presidency with CNN, stating: “I think there’s always a reason to be worried about the short-term, but I look at the longer-term of what this — what happened. I think there is an ongoing — look, our Constitution says, we, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, that journey to a more perfect union has missteps in it.”
