The start of 2024 brings continued challenges for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with a Vanity Fair article shining an unwelcome spotlight on the couple. Adding to their troubles, rumors have emerged suggesting Meghan’s representatives approached a publisher about a potential book deal concerning her divorce from Harry.

Among these developments, a particularly concerning report has surfaced involving a close Trump associate advocating for Prince Harry’s deportation from the United States, contingent on potential misrepresentations in his immigration paperwork.

Sky News has reported on Nile Gardiner, who serves as both the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom director and Bernard and Barbara Lomas Fellow at the Heritage Foundation. Gardiner criticized the royal couple’s response to Meta’s recent policy changes regarding fact-checking.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex urged Meta, led by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, to reverse its adoption of a ‘Community Notes’ approach to fact-checking across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads in a statement released by the Sussexes’ office via their Archewell Foundation website this week.”

The couple’s public image continues to deteriorate, with local residents labeling them as highly entitled and criticizing their involvement in the Palisades fire relief efforts as opportunistic.

Following Meta’s January 7 announcement regarding content moderation changes, the former royals felt compelled to voice their opposition.

“Harry and Meghan said the move ‘directly undermines free speech’. […] ‘It doesn’t matter whether your views are left, right, or somewhere in between – the latest news from Meta about changes to their policies directly undermines free speech. This should deeply concern us all. In an already confusing and, in many instances, intentionally disruptive information environment, Meta has shown their words and commitments have very little meaning or integrity’.”

Gardiner condemned the couple’s statement as political overreach. “‘For members of the Royal Family to engage in such overtly political matters is, quite frankly, highly inappropriate. It goes against royal protocol’,” he stated Wednesday.

“‘Their use of these titles to further their personal and political agendas makes a mockery of the royal family’s customary neutrality. Their statement wasn’t a moderate call for dialogue or understanding; it was an outright political rant’.”

As the head of The Heritage Foundation’s legal efforts to obtain Harry’s immigration records following his drug use admissions in “Spare,” Gardiner has indicated his intention to recommend the release of these documents to Trump. He expressed confidence that the public would eventually gain access to these records.
