Left-wing Muslim leaders are expressing outrage at the Democratic Party for allowing former President Donald Trump to court Muslim voters, following his campaign’s announcement of a visit to Dearborn, Michigan.

The Biden-Harris administration has faced criticism from Muslims for its support of Israel’s military actions against Hamas in Gaza, with some calling for U.S. Muslims to boycott the upcoming election.

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan voiced her disapproval of Trump’s visit on social media, stating, “Trump is a proud Islamophobe + serial liar who does not stand for peace. The reality is that the Biden admin’s unconditional support for genocide is what got us here. This should be a wake-up call for those who continue to support genocide. This election should not be this close.”

Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud echoed Tlaib’s sentiments, emphasizing the community’s past struggles under Trump’s policies. He refused to meet with the former president, adding, “Trump will never be my president. To the Dems – your unwillingness to stop funding & enabling a genocide created the space for Trump to infiltrate our communities. Remember that.”

Trump’s visit to Dearborn marks the first by a major party presidential candidate. He visited a popular Muslim-owned restaurant and accepted a plaque for calling for peace in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly rejected Jewish Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as her running mate in an attempt to appease Muslim voters. However, the Democratic Party continues to face harsh criticism as the situation in the Middle East deteriorates.

Recent polls suggest a shift in Jewish voter support away from Democrats and towards Trump, further complicating the political landscape.
