Trump Jr. Rejects Idea Of Nikki Haley As Father’s VP Pick

Donald Trump Jr. has declared that he would “go to great lengths” to ensure that his father, former President Donald Trump, does not pick former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) as his running mate in the 2024 presidential race.

Haley, an establishment pro-war candidate running against Trump in the GOP primary, has been floated by several prominent establishment Republicans as a potential vice presidential pick for Trump’s second term.

Even Trump’s own daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has speculated about Haley being her father-in-law’s running mate, telling Newsmax host Eric Bolling that “crazier things have happened.”

“I don’t know. I would never say never with Donald J. Trump. Never say never,” she added, referring to a potential Trump/Haley ticket.

Another presidential candidate, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), taunted Haley about the idea after Lara Trump’s comments, stating during a campaign stop in New Hampshire that Haley “will not answer directly, and she owes you [voters] an answer to this. Will she accept a vice presidential nomination from Donald Trump? Yes or no?”

Haley’s campaign fired back at DeSantis for the comments later that day, claiming that the former South Carolina governor “doesn’t play for second.”

Meanwhile, Trump Jr. has vehemently disagreed with his sister-in-law during an interview earlier this week with Bolling — telling the Newsmax host that he would even go as far as intervening to block Haley from becoming his father’s running mate.

“I wouldn’t have her, and I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn’t happen,” he said.

“Nikki Haley wants never-ending wars. She’s a puppet of the establishment in Washington, D.C. She’s the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class because they want control,” Trump Jr. added. “No different than academia and Harvard and using their billions to exercise influence. They want someone they control.”

Trump Jr. isn’t the only prominent conservative who has vowed to do everything possible to prevent Trump from choosing Haley as VP — as former Fox News host Tucker Carlson made similar claims during an appearance at a recent Turning Point USA summit, declaring that he would “advocate against” Trump picking Haley “as strongly as I could.”
