In a significant diplomatic development, former President Donald Trump engaged in separate conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, aiming to facilitate peace between the warring nations.

Trump detailed these interactions through two separate Truth Social posts. In his first communication, he described a comprehensive discussion with Putin that covered various topics including Ukraine, Middle Eastern affairs, energy policy, artificial intelligence, and the dollar’s strength.

The conversation with Putin emphasized their mutual interest in ending the ongoing conflict, with Trump noting that Putin referenced his campaign slogan of “COMMON SENSE.” Both leaders expressed their commitment to halting the significant loss of life in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Following their discussion, both leaders agreed to initiate immediate negotiations through their respective teams. Trump’s negotiating team comprises Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who previously helped broker a Hamas-Israel ceasefire.

In a subsequent post, Trump reported a productive conversation with Zelensky. He wrote:

> The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE. We discussed a variety of topics having to do with the War, but mostly, the meeting that is being set up on Friday in Munich, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the Delegation. I am hopeful that the results of that meeting will be positive. It is time to stop this ridiculous War, where there has been massive, and totally unnecessary, DEATH and DESTRUCTION. God bless the people of Russia and Ukraine!

Zelensky acknowledged the exchange on X, emphasizing Ukraine’s desire for peace and their collaboration with the U.S. to achieve it. “No one wants peace more than Ukraine. Together with the U.S., we are charting our next steps to stop Russian aggression and ensure a lasting, reliable peace. As President Trump said, let’s get it done,” he stated.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed speaking with Trump about these diplomatic exchanges. She relayed Trump’s characterization of the calls as highly positive and affirmed the administration’s dedication to securing a peace agreement to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with more details forthcoming.
