National Security Adviser Mike Waltz outlined the incoming Trump administration’s immediate plans for immigration enforcement during a Sunday appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” emphasizing that deportation efforts would begin from day one.

When questioned by host Dana Bash about the anticipated executive orders on immigration, Waltz detailed a comprehensive approach to immigration enforcement. The plan includes enhanced border patrol operations, the reinstatement of the “remain in Mexico” policy, and collaboration with international partners for deportation proceedings.

“We are working rapidly back towards a remain in Mexico policy. Number three, you are going to see some of our key partners step up in terms of deportation and taking some of these people back. I don’t want to get too far ahead of who they are or how that’s going to occur. Then number four, Tom Homan. Actually, absolutely is going to take much more aggressive ICE action. Our inner city mayors are begging for it. The president campaigned on it. We are going to start with the worst, the worst of the criminals to get them out of our cities and out of our communities,” Waltz explained.

When pressed by Bash about whether these measures would involve large-scale raids, Waltz avoided specific characterization but emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing criminal elements within immigrant communities. He specifically highlighted cases involving serious crimes.

The conversation concluded with Bash seeking clarification on the timeline for these enforcement actions. Waltz left no room for ambiguity, stating that the president was prepared to begin deportation efforts from “minute one” of taking office.
