Trump’s ex-lawyer begs Biden for pardon like Hunter’s

Michael Cohen, former Trump attorney and convicted fraudster, made a surprising request on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” seeking presidential pardon treatment similar to what Hunter Biden received from his father.

During his appearance with Symone Sanders-Townsend, Cohen declared he had submitted a pardon application, claiming President Biden should extend him the same consideration shown to Hunter Biden.

This request follows Biden’s December 1st “full and unconditional” pardon of his son Hunter, covering potential crimes from January 2014 through December 2024, including gun charges and tax offenses. The pardon’s timeframe notably encompasses the period of Biden family involvement with Burisma and CEFC China Energy.

Biden characterized his 82-year-old son’s legal troubles as a “miscarriage of justice,” despite Hunter’s controversial personal history and alleged involvement in international business dealings.

Cohen, who served time for tax evasion, bank fraud, and campaign finance violations, emphasized his own hardships, particularly referencing his 51-day stint in solitary confinement. “I would expect that the same exact pardon that he gave his son has to go to me and to anybody else that’s on that enemies list, whether they want it or not, because I assure you, solitary confinement, where I did 51 days, sucks.”

His solitary confinement reportedly resulted from an internet-use dispute at the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution.

Sanders-Townsend, while acknowledging Cohen’s difficult experience, questioned his strategy of comparing himself to Hunter Biden. “I don’t necessarily think that’s your best way to go get a pardon. I mean, Hunter Biden is the president’s last surviving son.”

When Cohen responded by noting he too was someone’s son, Sanders-Townsend firmly replied, “You’re not the president’s son.”

The disbarred attorney, who recently defended his pardon pursuit on Chris Hayes’s show, could join thousands of other recipients of Biden’s clemency if successful, including various convicted criminals.
