Exciting news emerged Thursday as “Cobra Kai” co-stars Tanner Buchanan, 26, and Mary Mouser, 28, announced their engagement, revealing a romance that had previously remained private.
The couple shared their joy through a joint Instagram announcement, stating, “We’re so happy to finally share that we’re engaged. This is such a special moment in our lives, the closing of one chapter and celebrating the continuation of another.”
Speculation about their relationship began brewing Wednesday when both actors were spotted wearing diamond engagement rings at the Los Angeles premiere of their show’s finale. Mouser captivated attention in an elegant dark shimmery dress, while Buchanan opted for a classic dark suit complemented by a tie and tinted glasses.

The announcement caught many fans off guard, with numerous social media users expressing surprise at learning about their relationship. The pair’s on-screen chemistry was evident during the show’s second and third seasons, where they portrayed love interests. At Wednesday’s finale celebration, Buchanan shared with People that Mouser had become his most trusted confidant among the “Cobra Kai” cast, describing her as “a hundred percent” his ride-or-die.
Their love story began on the set of the nine-time Emmy Award-nominated series, which continues the legacy of the “Karate Kid” franchise. The show made its debut on YouTube in 2018 before transitioning to Netflix in 2020.

In the series, Mouser plays Sam LaRusso, daughter of karate champion Daniel LaRusso, while Buchanan portrays the son of Daniel’s longtime rival, Johnny Lawrence.
Show co-creator Jon Hurwitz playfully commented on X, “We’re matchmakers first, showrunners second. Our primary goal with Cobra Kai was for Daniel LaRusso’s daughter and Johnny Lawrence’s son to fall in love in real life. Mission accomplished. So happy for them! A perfect couple!”
